The Objectives of The Garden Club Of North Carolina are:

  • To provide a non-profit, philanthropic, and educational association for members.

  • To coordinate the interests of all member garden clubs by association, conference, and correspondence.

  • To study, in all its aspects, the art of gardening, particularly horticulture, and to cooperate with agencies furthering such interest.

  • To encourage environmental improvement through civic development, beautification, restoration, and the protection and conservation of our natural resources.

  • To assist in educating the youth of our state in the areas of garden club activity.


The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc .

  • Is a member of the South Atlantic Region of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. With membership of over 230,000, NGC is the largest organized group of gardeners in the world.  The mission of NGC is to provide education, resources, and networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, and civic and environmental responsibility.

  • Has 335 clubs and 8746 members in the state.

  • Publishes at regular intervals for its members, a news magazine, The North Carolina Gardener.

  • Established and maintains three public gardens in the state:  The Daniel Boone Native Gardens in Boone, the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo, and The Martha Franck Fragrance Garden at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh.

  • Sponsors an awards program for the North Carolina Department of Transportation highway beautification project.

  • Sponsors a Wildflower of the Year Program with the North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill.

  • Works with youth groups of all ages in a program sponsored by clubs throughout the state.

  • Offers scholarships to outstanding North Carolina college students with majors in horticulture, landscape design, botany, and other related fields.

  • Offers schools, conferences and courses to the membership.
