President's Message |
|
The Theme for the 2009 - 2011 term is "COME AND SEE". We invite club
members, friends and the public to come and enjoy the programs, projects and
events of the Garden Club of North Carolina.
"Come and See" our gardens: The Elizabethan Garden, The Daniel Boone Native Garden and The Martha Franck Fragrance Garden. "Come and See" our Botanical Gardens and Arboretums, our Historic Homes and Gardens, our individual gardens and the many public parks and gardens across our great state. "Come and See" our Flower Show Schools, our Landscape Design Schools, our Gardening Study Schools and our Flower Show Symposiums. Come and learn and have fun with fellow gardeners and designers. Drive across our beautiful state and see the amazing roadside plantings - the daylillies have never been more beautiful than this year. Also, "Come and See" the Blue Star Memorial Markers along our scenic highways as we honor and pay tribute to all our Military - past, present and future.
The South Atlantic Regional Director, Carolyn Patterson, has chosen
"Color Our World - Pass On Our Gardening Heritage" as her theme and
"Good Soil" as her project.
National garden Club President, Renee Blaschke, has selected for her
theme, "The World Around Us - Love It - Beautify It - Protect It", with
the project "Beautify Blight".
GCNC will participate in the Breast Cancer Awareness project, "Plant
It Pink" and also in "Golden Days" a project to honor our gardening
friends who are no longer able to plant a flower, we'll plant Daffodills
for them!
The future for The Garden Club of North Carolina is very bright and
positive as we look around and see the difference that the work of The
Garden Club of North Carolina has made and continues to make. So, "COME
AND SEE", participate, learn, celebrate our achievements, and continue
to have fun as we garden together to make our world even more healthy,
safe and beautiful.
